Full-Time Director of Human Resources and Business Operations Manager at Family Office: $150K+ and Benefits

Family Office located in the Presidio of San Francisco is seeking a dynamic, polished, organized, educated and experienced full-time director of human resources and business operations manager. This position requires a passion to effectively manage the human resources of a family office to optimize productivity and employee satisfaction. Occasional domestic travel is required for the position. Candidates must be comfortable reporting to family office daily, but also working at residences when necessary. This is a newly created position with a growing family office. Family office is open to local candidates and domestic relocations. Start date is flexible for the right candidate.


  • Design and manage human resources system for family office and related entities


  • Oversee relationship with Trinet, ADP, 401k and related human resources software and systems


  • Set up and oversee appropriate business policies on-going and as-needed basis


  • Communicate regularly with staff and employees about business policies, practices and changes


  • Oversee annual performance reviews for family office employees and related entity staff


  • Design and oversee on-boarding process for new staff across entities


  • Coordinate insurance related matters with broker, family and staff


  • Manage individual insurance policies for multiple entities and annual reviews


  • Oversee day-to-day management of family office employees and related staff and consultants


  • Work with Controller, Directors and Partners on daily business operations


  • Coordinate annual offsite meeting, content and follow-up for family office


  • Organize annual family meeting working with related staff to ensure smooth meeting with appropriate follow-up


  • Ability to travel domestically whenever necessary (minimal amount of travel required)


  • Above-average attention to detail and adherence to the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and organization


  • Ability to work collaboratively with family office and domestic staff (office environment and remotely at locations of residences)


  • Strong ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with principals, family office staff and domestic employees


  • Exceptional writing and editing skills


  • Deadline oriented with the ability to handle multiple priorities


  • The ability to efficiently manage and meet deadlines without sacrificing precision


  • Strong and consistent follow-through on delegated tasks


  • The capacity to independently manage time and priorities within established structures and procedures


  • A thoughtful, collaborative, and proactive approach to problem-solving and risk management


  • Analytical, critical thought and a propensity for research and fact-checking when faced with a new challenge or question


  • Superior judgement and the ability to exercise a high level of discretion


  • Genuine enthusiasm to learn about the unique structures and operations of the family office, gain expertise, hone a strong technical skill-set, and actively grow in the role over time


  • Strong technology skills and highly proficient with Macintosh, PC, family office software and Microsoft Office software including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook


  • Bachelor’s degree


  • 5-10+ years of consistent and recent full-time human resources and/or business operations management experience with family office


  • Seeking longevity (e.g., 2-5+ year commitment)


  • Ability to complete extensive background checks, motor vehicle checks, drug tests and psychological evaluations


  • $150K+ gross annual salary (based on experience and qualifications)
