Full-Time Executive Housekeeper: $80K+ and Benefits

Principals living in Big Island, Hawaii are seeking an experienced, organized and detail oriented full-time executive housekeeper who will work collaboratively with another full-time housekeeper to efficiently clean main residence and three guest houses totaling 12,000 square feet. Housekeeper should expect to work on three to five days per week (including weekdays and weekends). Schedule on days working will be a combination of 8:00/9:00am – 6:00pm or later when principals are in residence. This schedule will ensure that each housekeeper works half the time (approximately 26.5 weeks per year) and receives approximately two weekends off per month. Housekeepers will collaboratively make monthly schedules at least two to three months in advance. The position requires flexibility as family’s schedule changes at various times in the year (e.g., holidays, travel, etc.). The ability to work around the principals while at the same time cleaning and organizing in an efficient manner is important. Applicants need to be honest, trustworthy, understand the importance of maintaining discretion, collaborative to work with domestic employees, experienced working with principals that are around residence often (discreet and staying out of the way is important), comfortable with children (extended family visits frequently throughout the year), adept at organizing and general cleaning, knowledgeable with cleaning various surfaces and artwork, experienced assisting with entertaining, skilled with laundry, proficient with ironing, experienced with cooking basic meals and driving. Family is open to local candidates and domestic relocations. Start date is flexible for the right candidate. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Strong knowledge of proper care for various surfaces

• Cleaning and preparation of homes (e.g., kitchens, family rooms, living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, etc.)

• Sweep, scrub, mop and polish floors

• Vacuum carpets, rugs and draperies

• Dust and polish furniture and fittings

• Knowledge of cleaning and maintaining artwork

• Clean metal fixtures and fittings

• Empty and clean trash containers

• Dispose of trash in a sanitary manner

• Clean wash basins, mirrors, tubs and showers

• Wipe down glass surfaces

• Wipe down refrigerators, wine fridge, mini fridges, etc.

• Wine cellar inventory

• Dispose of expired food in refrigerator, freezer and pantry

• Make up beds and change linens as required

• Tidy up rooms

• Pack and unpack principals for travel

• Organize closets, storage, etc. 

• Keep cleaning supply, household and food inventory (use inventory for creating lists to run errands)

• Keep light bulb inventory and change light bulbs

• Sort, wash, load and unload laundry

• Iron and press clothing and linens

• Sort, fold and put away clean laundry

• Maintain all cleaning equipment and materials in a safe and sanitary working condition

• Monitor and report necessary domestic repairs and replacements to executive assistant

• Oversee vendor and contractors working at condo (report any and all information to executive assistant)

• Wash dishes and clean kitchen according to agreed hygiene standards

• Clean appliances

• Manage dry cleaning, dry cleaning inventory and inspect clothing and linens upon return

• Run errands (e. g., grocery store, dry cleaner, seamstress, florist, dropping off donations, etc.)

• Declutter and organizational projects, as directed by principals

• Take items for donation, as directed by principals

• Clean entryway of home

• Fresh flower bouquets arranged weekly or as needed based on principals’ preferences

• Care for indoor plants and flowers

• Polish silver

• Cleaning up and organizing outdoor living spaces (e.g., terraces, patios, balconies, etc.)

• Basic food preparation that includes fresh meals and meals left for reheating, as directed by private chef

• Assistance with entertaining (e.g., preparation for event, helping during event, clean up, etc.) 

• Display seasonal holiday decorations (e.g., Christmas tree and decorations for Christmas, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Understand the importance of maintaining discretion (confidentiality agreement is required) 

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos along with ability to write simple correspondence

• Technology proficient (e. g., email and text messages for communication, etc.)

• Physical stamina and mobility including ability to reach, kneel and bend

• Professional with good attitude, hard working and pleasant to be around 

• Collaborative to work with family office and domestic employees

• Discreet and calm demeanor 

• Non-smoker

REQUIREMENTS:

• 2-5+ years of consistent and recent full-time housekeeper experience

• 2-3 references from domestic positions

• Eligible to work in the United States

• Seeking longevity (e.g., 2-5+ year commitment) 

• Fluent in English 

• Driver’s license and clean driving record

• Willing to run extensive background checks, motor vehicle checks, drug tests and psychological evaluation

• Safe vehicle for transportation 

COMPENSATION: 

• $80K+ gross annual salary (based on background and experience) 

• Health insurance stipend 

• Three weeks (15 days) paid vacation 

• Discretionary annual bonus and raise (performance evaluation required)
