Executive couple with main residence in Winnetka, Illinois (North Shore suburb of Chicago) is seeking a professional, experienced, honest and conscientious full-time housekeeper who will efficiently clean 20,000 square foot formal residence alongside another full-time housekeeper. Schedule is typically on Monday through Friday at 9:30am – 6:00pm. Occasional evenings and holidays are required when principals have events and residences need to be prepared for family and guests arrival. Travel to other residences in Florida and Colorado is required up to four weeks per year (5-10 days per trip) with advanced notice. Extreme flexibility with scheduling is required. The ability to work around principals’ schedules while at the same time cleaning and organizing in an efficient manner is important. Applicants need to be honest, trustworthy, understand the importance of maintaining discretion (confidentiality agreement required), collaborative to work with domestic employees (house manager, personal assistant, housekeepers, private chef, etc.), experienced working with principals that are around residence often (discreet and staying out of the way is important), adept at organizing and general cleaning, knowledgeable with cleaning various surfaces and artwork, experienced assisting with entertaining, skilled with laundry and proficient with ironing. Candidates with many years of private full-time housekeeper experience working in a 10,000+ square foot or larger residence is required. Uniform is required (e.g., white or navy collared shirt, khaki pants, indoor shoes with white soles, etc.). Principals are seeking local candidates. Start date is flexible for the right candidate. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Perform the general and in-depth cleaning of the home
  • Handle the daily graces (e.g. fresh towels in the bathrooms, making beds, wiping bathroom and kitchen counters, loading and unloading dishwasher, etc.)
  • Prepare the household for the arrival of the principals and guests (ensure cabinets are stocked with preferred items, etc.)
  • Responsible for the care of fine furnishings, including antiques and artwork
  • Ensure that any food and waste left in the refrigerator or kitchen are discarded regularly
  • Maintain a detailed list of dry cleaning; drop off and pick up clothing and inspect upon return
  • Meticulously launder and press clothing, linens, and bedding as required
  • Experienced folding laundry using Marie Kondo “KonMari” Method
  • Maintain the organization of closets and storage areas
  • May be requested to polish shoes, steam suits, and provide small, basic mending if requested
  • Courteous, efficient, and accurate handling of phones, doors, messages, and deliveries, if needed
  • Keep detailed lists of expenses while maintaining receipts for all grocery and small household purchases made
  • Run any requested additional errands such as mailing letters/packages and picking up mail
  • Take out the trash and organize items to be recycled
  • Attend to guest needs
  • Keep flowers in the house fresh and replace when needed
  • Pack and unpack principals for travel (pack lists provided by personal assistant)
  • Polish silver
  • Clean, tidy and organize outdoor living spaces (e.g., rooftops, decks, balconies, pool houses, etc.)
  • Display seasonal holiday decorations (e.g., Christmas tree and decorations, etc.)
  • Assistance with entertaining (e.g., preparation for event, helping during event, clean up, etc.) 
  • Assist private chef in kitchen with food preparation, serving, clean-up, prepare simple meals as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to travel domestically to other residences up to four weeks annually (5-10 days per trip)
  • Understand the importance of maintaining discretion (confidentiality agreement is required) 
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos along with ability to write simple correspondence
  • Technology proficient (e. g., email and text messages for communication, etc.)
  • Physical stamina and mobility including ability to reach, kneel and bend
  • Professional with good attitude, hard working and pleasant to be around 
  • Collaborative to work with domestic staff and family office
  • Energetic, flexible, organized, self-starter who takes initiative 
  • Active and fit 
  • Discreet and calm demeanor 
  • Non-smoker

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2-5+ years of recent and consistent full-time housekeeper experience 
  • 2-3 references from domestic positions
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written communication)
  • Safe vehicle for transportation (necessary to get to and from work daily)
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Willing to run extensive background checks, motor vehicle checks, drug tests and psychological evaluation 
  • COVID-19 testing and antibodies testing
  • Seeking longevity/long term commitment (e.g., at least 2-5+ years)

COMPENSATION: 

  • $60K+ gross annual salary (based on experience and qualifications)
  • Health insurance family plan (including dental)
  • Two weeks (10 days) PTO

  • Discretionary annual bonus and raise (performance evaluation required)
