A private family is seeking an experienced, proactive, and polished full-time housekeeper to join a close-knit team in the meticulous daily cleaning of a 33,000 square foot family residence in Southern Westchester, New York. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a team environment, be extremely detail oriented, and have the ability to multi-task to keep the home in pristine order while creating a serene and organized environment for the family. Housekeeper will join the existing housekeeping team and partner closely with the private chef team. Typical work days are Monday through Friday with a mixture of daytime and evening shifts. In addition, housekeeper must be available to work occasional weekend shifts. Approximately four weeks of domestic travel to out of state residence is required (travel will be split over five to six trips). Schedules are made approximately six weeks in advance. The ability to work around the family’s schedule while at the same time cleaning and organizing in an efficient manner is important. Applicants need to be honest, trustworthy, understand the importance of maintaining discretion (confidentiality agreement required), collaborative to work with domestic employees (estate manager, facilities manager, private chefs, housekeepers, etc.), experienced working with principals that are around residence often (discreet and staying out of the way is important), adept at organizing and general cleaning, knowledgeable with cleaning various surfaces and artwork, experienced assisting with entertaining, skilled with laundry, and proficient with ironing. Candidates with many years of private full-time housekeeper experience working in large square footage residence is required. Uniform is provided and required. Family is open to local candidates and domestic relocations. Start date is flexible for the right candidate. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Meticulous daily cleaning including all aspects of general housekeeping, deep cleaning, and upkeep of the residence
  • Perform museum-quality cleaning with proficiency in special surfaces (e.g., piano finish, woods, glass, leather, upholstery, silver, etc.)
  • Provide on site laundry services including ironing sheets, table linens, and clothing, with proficiency in the care and stain treatment of a variety of fabrics (e.g., cottons/linens, silks, synthetics, etc.)
  • Support the private chef team with kitchen clean up throughout the day as well as table setting, florals, and related design
  • Manage and organize closets and storage areas
  • Maintain the residence for guest readiness at all times
  • Empty and clean trash containers
  • Clean wash basins, mirrors, tubs and showers
  • Wipe down glass surfaces
  • Wipe down refrigerators, wine fridge, mini fridges, ice makers, etc.
  • Make beds and change linens
  • Pack and unpack principals for travel
  • Keep cleaning supply and household inventory
  • Laundry for clothing and linens (sort, wash, fold, etc.)
  • Iron clothing and linens as needed
  • Maintain all cleaning equipment and materials in a safe and sanitary working condition
  • Monitor and report necessary domestic repairs and replacements to estate manager
  • Wash dishes and clean kitchen according to agreed hygiene standards
  • Clean appliances
  • Manage dry cleaning, dry cleaning inventory, and inspect clothing and linens upon return
  • Declutter and organizational projects, as directed by estate manager (e.g., closets, storage, etc.)
  • Clean entryway of home
  • Care for indoor plants
  • Polish silver
  • Assistance with entertaining (e.g., preparation for event, helping during event, clean up, etc.) 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to travel domestically to out of state residence as requested 
  • Impeccable attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and dedication to responsibilities 
  • Understand the importance of maintaining discretion (confidentiality agreement is required) 
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos along with ability to write simple correspondence
  • Thorough knowledge of household cleaning tools and techniques, along with a careful and protective approach to the job
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and work with estate manager to reprioritize initiatives throughout the day and week
  • Professional and energetic worker with a friendly and positive attitude 
  • Collaborative to work with domestic employees and team player mentality 
  • Polished and professional at all times, acting with the utmost discretion and protective of the family’s privacy
  • Physical stamina and mobility including ability to reach, climb stairs, kneel, and bend
  • Discreet and calm demeanor 
  • Technology proficient (e. g., email and text messages for communication, etc.)
  • Non-smoker

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5-10+ years of recent and consistent full-time housekeeper experience 
  • 2-3 references from domestic positions
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written communication)
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Willing to run extensive background checks, motor vehicle checks, drug tests, and psychological evaluation 
  • Safe vehicle tor transportation to get to and from work daily 
  • COVID-19 vaccinations
  • COVID-19 testing and antibodies testing
  • Seeking longevity / long term commitment (e.g., at least 2-5+ years and ideally longer)
  • Live a commutable proximity to family’s residence in Southern Westchester, New York or willingness to relocate

COMPENSATION: 

  • $80K+ gross annual salary (based on experience and qualifications)
  • Gross overtime rate of time and a half for hours worked over 40 hours per week
  • Double-time paid for weekend hours and holidays 
  • Health insurance coverage / policy (including dental and vision)
  • Two weeks (10 days) vacation paid 
  • Five sick days paid 
  • Discretionary annual bonus and raise (performance evaluation required)
