Full-Time Nanny / Family Assistant: $100K+ and Benefits

Family living in Brentwood, Tennessee with 3 year old boy is seeking an educated, experienced, professional, organized, and detail oriented full-time nanny / family assistant to manage a busy family and household. Schedule will be on Monday – Thursday at approximately 7:30am – 5:00pm. If one of the principals is traveling (approximately 4-5 weekdays per month), the hours are Monday – Thursday at 6:00am – 6:00pm, per the other principal’s schedule. If child has a doctor’s appointment that does not have availability on a Friday, nanny will be required to switch their Friday off for another day off work that week (at the most 2-3 times per year with advance communication and approval by nanny). Family will ensure nanny has schedule at least 2-4 weeks in advance. Approximately 1-2 weeks of international and/or domestic travel per year is required. Applicants need to be honest, trustworthy, understand the importance of maintaining discretion, experienced working with principal that works from home, and comfortable with pets (e.g., French Bulldog, cat, fish). Candidates must have previous experience in similar position(s) that include nanny experience along with family assistant responsibilities. Child is enrolled with private school that begins in Fall 2025, which is short driving distance from the family’s residence. Safe vehicle for transportation is required for transporting child and running errands. Family is open to local candidates in Nashville and domestic relocations. Start date is flexible for the right candidate.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Play-based learning and creating educational activities (e.g., planned engaging activities at home, developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts, scheduled outings, etc.)
  • Schedule child for activities and manage child’s calendar
  • Provide developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts at home and schedule/plan fun outings and events 
  • Knowledgeable about child development (e.g., firm when necessary and capable of teaching child manners and etiquette, but also capable of being laid back and fun) 
  • Support teaching and reinforcement of manners and other social skills
  • Assist child with homework, school projects, studying for tests, etc. and keep principals informed of progress and needs (when age appropriate)
  • Transport child to and from school, activities, play dates, camps, etc.
  • Fresh and healthy meal planning and preparation for child
  • Pack child’s healthy lunches and bags for the following day (e.g., ensure all school work is completed, pack gear for sports and activities, etc.) 
  • Pack and unpack child for trips / travel (create pack lists in advance to ensure child has everything needed prior to travel) 
  • Inventory checklists for household items, food, child’s essentials, etc. and order through Amazon, Instacart, etc.
  • Run errands (e.g., shopping for home supplies, returns, purchasing school supplies for beginning of school year and needed throughout the year, purchasing gifts for birthday parties child is attending, and other requested items)
  • Oversee vendors and contractors that have been scheduled by principals
  • Organizational projects involving cleaning and maintaining child’s belongings and rooms (e.g., child’s laundry – clothing and linens, bedroom, playrooms (toys, crafts, etc.), closets, rotating clothes seasonally, getting rid of outgrown toys and clothing, taking things for donation, etc.)
  • Assistance with French Bulldog primarily when principal is traveling (e.g., feeding in morning, letting out throughout the day, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Capable of building rapport with similar aged children (toddlers, school aged, etc.) 
  • Ability to travel internationally and domestically whenever necessary 
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, excellent time management, efficient and service focused
  • Attentive to principals’ preferences and style (intuitive to their needs)
  • Observant to the needs of family and home to anticipate their needs 
  • Ability to maintain discretion (confidentiality agreement is required)
  • Ability to be discreet with respect for employers’ privacy
  • Professional presentation of self and great personality 
  • Ability to easily take direction 
  • Strong ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with principals (extension of parents and consistent childcare philosophies)
  • Positive attitude and ability to handle position with ease and calm demeanor
  • Active and fit (e.g., swimming, etc.)
  • Non-Smoker 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 2-5+ years of consistent and recent domestic experience working as a full-time nanny / family assistant 
  • 3-4+ references from domestic positions
  • Passionate about education, child development, and child psychology
  • Seeking longevity / long term commitment (e.g., at least 2-5+ years)
  • Live a close proximity to family’s residence in Brentwood, Tennessee or willingness to relocate within a commutable distance
  • Comfortable with pets (e.g., French Bulldog, cat, fish)
  • Safe vehicle for transportation 
  • Ability to complete extensive background checks, motor vehicle checks, drug tests, and psychological evaluation 
  • Vaccinations (e.g., MMR, TDap, Flu Shot) 
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record 
  • United States passport
  • Pediatric CPR Certification

COMPENSATION:

  • $100K+ gross annual salary (based on experience and qualifications)
  • Gross overtime rate for hours worked over 40 hours per week
  • $150 gross per overnight when traveling with family and working overnights at residence
  • $500+ gross monthly health insurance stipend 
  • $0.70 per mile gas reimbursement (when driving vehicle for work-related purposes)
  • Two weeks (8 days) vacation paid (possibly more based on experience and qualifications)
  • Seven government holidays paid
    • New Year’s Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas
    • If one of the seven government holidays falls on a Friday, nanny will be given one floating holiday (with advanced approval from principals)
  • Five sick days paid
  • Discretionary annual bonus and raise (performance evaluation required)
