Full-Time Nanny / House Manager: $120K+ and Benefits

Family with main residence in Brookline, Massachusetts with 13 year old girl and 16 year old boy with special needs is seeking an experienced, professional, engaging, organized, and detail-oriented full-time nanny / house manager. Schedule will typically be on Monday – Friday at 11:30am – 6:30pm. Flexibility is required to occasionally work shifted hours on certain days and during summer months when children are out of school. Approximately four weeks of domestic and international travel per year is required. Weekends are off when traveling domestically and weekends are worked when traveling internationally. The position requires extreme flexibility as family’s schedule changes at various times in the year (e.g., summer, holidays, travel, etc.). Family has other domestic residences located in various regions throughout the country. Family spends majority of summer months at residence in Michigan. The other full-time nanny / house manager works on Monday – Friday at 6:30am – 1:30pm. Applicants need to be honest, trustworthy, understand the importance of maintaining discretion, collaborative and experienced working with domestic staff (nanny / house manager, housekeepers, etc.), and experienced working with principals that are at residence often (discreet and staying out of the way is important). Children attend private schools, son’s school is considerably far from home and requires driving to school each day. Candidates must be comfortable driving and working with hypoallergenic dog. Staff vehicle is provided for transporting children and running errands. Family is open to local candidates and domestic relocations. Start date is flexible for the right candidate.


• Experienced with play-based learning and creating educational activities (e.g., planned engaging activities at home, developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts, themed weeks, scheduled outings, etc.)

• Knowledgeable about child development (e.g., firm when necessary and capable of teaching children manners and etiquette, but also capable of being laid back and fun)

• Support teaching and reinforcement of manners and other social skills

• Provide developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts at home, and schedule/plan fun outings and events

• Assist son with homework, school projects, studying for tests, etc. and keep parents informed of progress and needs 

• Transport children to and from school, scheduled appointments, activities, sports, play dates, outings, etc.

• Fresh and healthy meal planing and preparation for family

• Pack children’s healthy lunches and bags for the following day (e.g., ensure all school work is completed, pack gear for sports and activities, etc.) 

• Domestic duties (e.g., children’s laundry, washing dishes, loading and unloading dishwasher, empty garbage cans, tidy playroom and bedrooms, pack and unpack children for trips / travel, etc.)

• Organizational projects (e.g., children’s bedrooms, playrooms (toys, crafts, etc.), closets, rotate clothes seasonally, get rid of outgrown toys and clothing, take things for donation, etc.)

• Proactively create “pack lists” to ensure children have everything needed prior to travel, pack and unpack children for travel, research and plan activities at destination, and ensure appropriate gear is available at other residences, hotel, or resort

• Inventory checklists for household items, food, children’s essentials, principals’ essentials, etc. and order through Amazon, Instacart, etc.

• Run errands (e.g., ship boxes to other residences, shop for home supplies, returns, purchase school supplies for beginning of school year and needed throughout the year, purchase gifts for birthday parties children are attending, etc.)

• Handle things around the home (e.g., oversee deliveries and put things away in designated places, schedule and oversee vendors and contractors, send emails, go through mail and sort bills and junk, etc.)

• Research projects for various things as directed by principal(s) 

• Ensure pantry and refrigerator are properly stocked in accordance with the principals’ and children’s preferences, travel, and entertaining schedules

• Maintain vehicles, fill gas tank, take for service appointments and keep accurate records of services completed, schedule appointments for car detailing 

• Manage dry cleaning, dry cleaning inventory, and inspect clothing and linens upon return

• Schedule hair cut appointments for children

• Assistance with dog (e.g., board prior to family travel, walk and let out, feed, routine groomer and veterinary appointments, etc.)

• Schedule meetings with principal(s) as needed to discuss their schedules, children’s schedules, travel plans, upcoming events, special projects, etc. 


• Capable of building rapport with similar aged children

• Experienced working with similar aged children (middle school, high school, etc.)

• Experienced working with at least two children in nanny position

• Experienced working with children that have special needs or willingness to learn

• Ability to travel internationally and domestically whenever necessary 

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, excellent time management, efficient, and service focused

• Attentive to principals’ preferences and style (intuitive to their needs)

• Observant to the needs of family to anticipate their needs (e.g., plan engaging activities at home, proactively plan activities for travel, etc.)

• Ability to maintain discretion (confidentiality agreement is required)

• Ability to be discreet with respect for employer’s privacy

• Professional presentation of self and great personality 

• Ability to easily take direction

• Strong ability to communicate and collaborate efficiently and effectively with principals and domestic employees

• Experienced and willing to be an extension of the parents collaborating and communicating frequently (previous experience working with principals that are around residence is ideal)

• Positive attitude and ability to handle position with ease and calm demeanor

• Bachelor’s degree

• Passionate about education, child development, and child psychology

• 2-5+ years of consistent and recent full-time nanny and/or full-time nanny / house manager experience 

• 3-4+ references from domestic positions

• Seeking longevity / long term commitment (e.g., at least 2-5+ years commitment)

• Live a commutable proximity to the family’s residence in Brookline, Massachusetts or willingness to relocate

• Ability to swim and comfortable with water

• United States passport

• Ability to complete extensive background checks, motor vehicle checks, drug tests, and psychological evaluation

• Driver’s license and clean driving record

• Pediatric CPR Certification

• Vaccinations (e.g., COVID-19, MMR, TDap, Flu Shot)

• COVID-19 testing and antibodies testing

• Comfortable working with hypoallergenic dog


• $120K+ gross annual salary (based on experience and qualifications)

• Gross overtime rate for hours worked over 40 hours per week

• $450 gross per month health insurance stipend 

• Three weeks (15 days) vacation paid

• Discretionary annual bonus and raise (performance evaluation required)
