Full-Time Private Chef: $120K+ and Benefits

Principals living in Big Island, Hawaii are seeking a professional, experienced and creative full-time private chef. The schedule for position is five out of seven days per week, which includes a combination of weekdays and weekends. Schedule will be known at least two to three weeks in advance. Flexibility to work holidays and events is required for position. Private Chef is required to travel domestically to other residences approximately 10-12+ weeks per year. Candidates must be comfortable working collaboratively with other employees. Ideal candidate has a culinary certificate or degree, bachelor’s degree, 2-5+ years of consistent and recent full-time private chef experience, knowledgeable and experienced with clean and healthy cooking, understands the importance of maintaining discretion, discreet and calm demeanor, assertive, positive, proactive, organized and detail oriented, service focused, kind, respectful, seeking longevity and has a flexible schedule. Candidates must be comfortable with children (extended family visits frequently throughout the year). Uniform is required (e.g., chef coat, indoor shoes, etc.). Family is open to local candidates and domestic relocations. Start date is flexible for the right candidate.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Creativity in preparing healthy and clean meals (organic food required)

• Preparing foods based around specific diets (e.g., counting macros, portions, gluten free, keto, dairy free, etc.)

• Keeping up-to-date on the latest culinary trends and fads

• Experienced with planning menus for principals and events

• Creating lists and ordering or shopping for fresh foods

• Professional presence and experience in food presentation and table setting is mandatory

• All food preparation and kitchen related duties along with grocery shopping

• High standards of health and hygiene with food

• Properly storing ingredients and leftovers

• Coordinating cooking and serving times with principals

• Cleaning and tidying kitchen after each use

• Maintaining all kitchen equipment

• Interactions with extended family and friends for holiday meals, dinners and events at residences

• Providing hospitality and service to guests (including semi-formal to formal service when hosting small private events)

• Ensure pantry, refrigerator and wine cellar are properly stocked in accordance with the family’s travel and entertaining schedules

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to travel domestically

• Highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, excellent time management, efficient and service focused

• Attentive to principals’ preferences and style (intuitive to their needs)

• Ability to maintain discretion (confidentiality agreement is required) and respect for family’s privacy

• Professional presentation of self

• Ability to easily take direction

• Strong ability to communicate and collaborate efficiently and effectively with principals

• Discreet and understand the importance of when to be present

• Positive attitude and ability to handle private chef responsibilities with ease and calm demeanor

• Non-Smoker

REQUIREMENTS:

• Culinary degree or certificate

• Bachelor’s degree

• 2-5+ years of consistent and recent full-time private chef experience

• 3-4 references from domestic positions

• United States passport

• Driver’s license and clean driving record

• Extensive background checks, motor vehicle checks, drug tests and psychological evaluation

• COVID-19 vaccination(s)

• COVID-19 testing and antibodies testing

• Seeking longevity (e.g., 2-5+ year commitment)

• Live a close proximity to family’s residence in Big Island, Hawaii or willingness to relocate

• Comfortable with children

COMPENSATION:

• $120K+ gross annual salary (based on experience and qualifications)

• Health insurance stipend

• Three weeks (15 days) paid vacation 

• Discretionary annual bonus and raise (performance evaluation required)
